Read Deuteronomy 4:32-40
Debates about who is the G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time) are commonplace on podcasts and talk shows. For example, in basketball, Michael Jordan or LeBron James? In cricket, Donald Bradman or Sachin Tendulkar? In entertainment, Taylor Swift or Beyoncé? Differences in individual styles, technological advancements over the decades, and personal preferences provide endless fuel for these debates.
In the book of Deuteronomy, the Israelites are once again on the precipice of entering the promised land. They failed to trust in the greatness of their God the last time they were here, will they trust in his greatness this time around?
- What has God done that proves his greatness to the Israelites?
- What immediate response does God desire from his people in response to his greatness?
- In Ephesians 1:18-23, Paul points to another example that demonstrates God’s incomparable greatness. What did God do by his great power and who is this great power for now?
Prayer: Praise God for his greatness – besides him there is no other! Praise God that the same great power that raised Jesus from the dead and seated him in heaven is also at work in you today. Give thanks to God for how he has demonstrated his great power to you recently.
